АВВГ — силовой кабель с алюминиевыми жилами в ПВХ-изоляции и оболочке. Он заметно дешевле и легче медного ВВГ, поэтому его выбирают для питающих и распределительных линий большого сечения: от трансформаторных подстанций к вводно-распределительным устройствам, между корпусами предприятий, для наружного освещения.
Алюминий проводит ток хуже меди, поэтому сечение берут на ступень больше. Поставляем АВВГ по ГОСТ 31996-2012 сечением 2,5–240 мм², в исполнениях нг(А) и нг(А)-LS.

По допустимому току медному 16 мм² соответствует алюминиевый 25 мм². Окончательно сечение проверяют по длине линии и падению напряжения.
